In the northeast of Kufra, specifically in a mountainous area, the Public Prosecution Office began on Thursday the process of recovering the bodies of undocumented migrants who died as a result of torture and murder.
A team from the Emergency and Rescue Services and the Southeastern Region’s Illegal Immigration Control Agency participated in the operation.
As of Thursday evening, 55 bodies had been recovered as an initial count, and efforts are still ongoing to recover more bodies from the area.
This action is part of ongoing investigations to uncover the circumstances of this horrific crime, bring those involved to justice, combat illegal immigration, and reduce the abuses that migrants face.
