Tripoli Criminal Court has issued a verdict convicting a foreign national and three senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Construction of the GNU for their involvement in the embezzlement of 1.8 million dinars.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office explained in a statement that the Public Prosecution had filed a lawsuit against the defendants after investigations revealed their involvement in facilitating the misappropriation of public funds by the foreign national.
The court convicted the main defendant, the foreign national, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, while sentencing three ministry officials to three years each on charges of facilitating the embezzlement. The court also acquitted two other defendants due to insufficient evidence against them.
