In a new development in the case of the meeting between the suspended Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Mangoush, and Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, Mangoush has revealed controversial details, accusing the GNU Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, of pre-arranging the meeting and evading responsibility after news of the meeting was leaked.
Mangoush confirmed in press statements that the meeting, which took place in Italy, was “fully coordinated between Dbeibah and the Israeli government” and was “a secret meeting for security and strategic purposes related to Libya’s resources.”
She added that she was not involved in setting the agenda for the meeting, but was tasked with conveying a specific message from the Government of National Unity, noting that there has been “coordination between the Netanyahu government and the Dbeibah government for a long time.”
Mangoush stressed that during the meeting she expressed the Libyan people’s rejection of the Israeli government’s policies and their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
Mangoush accused the Dbeibah government of evading its responsibilities after news of the meeting was leaked, saying that “the problem was not with the leak itself, but with the way the crisis was handled.”
She explained that she requested to appear in the media to explain the circumstances of the meeting, but the government refused and asked her to leave the country, arranging her travel to Turkey on a private plane.
Mangoush expressed her full readiness to undergo investigation “to show the truth to the Libyan people,” stressing that she “respects the law and has nothing to hide.”
