UNHCR Overlooks Sudanese Refugee Influx to Libya!

UNHCR Overlooks Sudanese Refugee Influx to Libya!

In its annual report, the UNHCR excluded Libya from the list of countries impacted by the Sudanese refugee crisis, despite previous confirmations from the UNHCR itself that over 100,000 Sudanese refugees had arrived in the country.  In the initial weeks of the conflict, around 200,000 refugees and returnees fled the country, while 700,000 were internally displaced.

The UNHCR annual report highlighted the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese to neighboring countries, with estimates suggesting the number of refugees could reach 860,000 by October.

Egypt has received the largest number of refugees, followed by Chad, South Sudan, Central Africa, and Ethiopia. However, the UNHCR completely ignored the number of Sudanese refugees in Libya, particularly in the city of Kufra, where their numbers have exceeded 65,000 refugees, equivalent to the city’s original population.
