GNU Former Oil and Gas Minister, Mohamed Aoun, denied any relationship between the Libyan energy sector and the “Zionist entity” criticizing the statements of the dismissed Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, on this subject.
Aoun denied this relation in a press statement issued today, pointing out that there are no common maritime borders. He also denied that Libya has membership in the “Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum,” adding that this forum was established to influence the Gas Exporting Countries Forum(GECF), of which Libya is a member.
The former minister’s statements came in response to an interview conducted by Al-Mangoush with the “360 Degrees” platform affiliated with Al Jazeera news channel on Monday, in which they addressed the energy file in Libya.
Aoun also criticized a previous statement by the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat Bengdara, in which he welcomed joining the “Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum” via CNBC’s new channel. He confirmed sending a letter to Bengdara in 2022 to clarify the Libyan position rejecting joining this forum because the Zionist entity is a member.
