Mebrouka Toghy, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development in the Government of National Unity, recently participated in the 24th Conference of Arab Ministers Responsible for Cultural Affairs held in Rabat, Morocco. The conference, themed “Cultural and Creative Industries and the Challenges of Digital Transformation and AI,” explored strategies to advance cultural initiatives in the Arab world amidst rapid technological advancements.
In her address, Minister Toghy emphasized the vital role of culture as a catalyst for humanitarian efforts. She stressed the necessity of diversifying cultural platforms while safeguarding the “independence of our culture.” Furthermore, she highlighted the significance of cultural industries, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence in enhancing cultural production, commending the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) for its contributions in this domain.
The conference concluded with the Arab Culture Ministers adopting a forward-looking plan to develop cultural industries in Arab countries. They urged ALECSO to spearhead the project’s implementation in collaboration with relevant authorities across the region. The Ministers also advocated for cultural industries’ promotion at the national level and emphasized investing in human capital by establishing a unified Arab platform for knowledge sharing and collaborative efforts.
