Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour has called on the National Oil Corporation’s management committee to stop exchanging crude oil for refined fuels, stressing the need for a transparent contracting mechanism to reserve public money.
This demand is based on the investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution Office, which revealed the growth of fuel smuggling outside the country, warning of its repercussions on the national economy.
Al-Sour explained that “oil barter deals” instead of signing “time contracts” threaten the national economy especially the contracts with companies that do not refine fuel.
The Attorney General called for concluding “transparent” contracts subject to examination, ensuring “sound spending” on fuel, and guaranteeing justice.
