Hasan Al-Sayyad Palace, located in the Tsawa area of Wadi Utbah, stands resilient against the ravages of time and neglect, preserving historical features that date back to the 1930s. This archaeological landmark is distinguished by its unique Islamic architectural style, built using mud and triangular molds. It comprises several rooms with traditional names like “Al-Housh,” “Al-Kawdi,” “Dar Al-Zalama,” “Dar Al-Rahā,” and “Al-Sandas,” in addition to “Al-Masjid,” which was dedicated to worship.
Despite its historical and cultural significance, Hasan Al-Sayyad Palace, like many archaeological sites in Libya, suffers from neglect and a lack of restoration and maintenance efforts. This leaves it vulnerable to the threat of erosion and damage from sandstorms. The palace remains a testament to the history of the Wadi Utbah region and awaits serious attention from the authorities to preserve it and transform it into an attractive tourist destination.
