Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) , Aguila Saleh, met today, Monday, with DSRSG for political Affairs, and UNSMIL Officer-in-Charge Stephanie Khoury, at his office in Al-Qubba to discuss the latest political developments in Libya.
During the meeting, Saleh emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with the UN mission and the international community, reaffirming the HoR commitment to the political agreement and the outcomes of the 6+6 Committee as a framework for resolving the political crisis.
For her part, Khoury reiterated the United Nations’ commitment to building trust among Libyan parties and bridging differences, highlighting the mission’s ongoing efforts to achieve a political consensus that would enable the country to overcome current challenges.
The discussions focused on the need to unify the executive authority and form a unified government as soon as possible, paving the way for holding presidential and parliamentary elections, which remain a key demand for achieving stability and meeting the aspirations of the Libyan people.
