Last Sunday evening, the Al-Nour Association for the Blind in Benghazi witnessed the end of the first Libyan Table Tennis Championship for the Blind. The championship, which began with preliminary qualifiers last week involving 27 athletes from two clubs and three associations for the blind, featured fierce competition among eight athletes who reached the finals.
In the senior category (over 21 years old), Salem Qunaiber from Al-Kafeef Association in Benghazi excelled, securing the title by defeating his colleague Abdulaziz Juma’a in two straight sets. Abdulaziz Juma’a received the silver medal, while Abdulraouf Suleiman received the bronze medal.
In the junior category (under 19 years old), Salem bin Zayed from Al-Nour Association for the Blind in Tripoli achieved a remarkable win by defeating Hussein Youssef, from the same association in two sets to one. Hussein Youssef won the silver medal, and Omar Fahmy received the bronze medal.
The championship was managed by referees Hussein Al-Farjani and Fouad Zafer.
