The Libyan Authority for Scientific Research announced the publication of a set of distinguished scientific research in various fields.
Mortality Rate Resulting from SARS-CoV-2 Virus:
The Libyan Center for Biotechnology Research published a peer-reviewed scientific paper in the Open Veterinary Journal, classified within the Scopus database, addressing the mortality rate resulting from the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its associated factors in the Libyan population, focusing on the role of zoonotic diseases in the spread of respiratory viruses and their impact on public health.
The research was based on the analysis of data from 3,000 respiratory samples collected between July 2020 and January 2021, using RT-PCR to detect the virus while studying demographic and health factors and their impact on mortality rates.
The results showed that the mortality rate is associated with multiple factors, most notably vitamin D levels, the ABO blood group system, and general health status.
The study also confirmed that the actual mortality rate may be higher than expected, requiring further research to explore the relationship between environmental factors and disease progression to improve prevention and epidemiological control strategies.
Detection of Aflatoxin M1 in Milk:
The Authority reported that Dr. Mukhtar Mohammed Abu Shaala participated in international research with a research team concerned with food safety and health control of food in publishing research titled “Detection of Aflatoxin M1 and reduction of its rate in milk by encapsulating a mixture of biological and chemical absorbents using nanotechnology.”
The study and results conducted on: raw and pasteurized cow’s milk, camel milk, sheep, and goat’s milk proved that the effectiveness of absorbents “algae, activated carbon, bentonite” has an effective effect in reducing the concentration of mycotoxins (aflatoxin FAM1) in milk and its products, and the most effective was (Ale-Mix), which is considered a promising indicator for removing contamination and a potential alternative to reduce the risks of milk and its products contamination, in addition to other fresh food products.
New Automatic Voltage Regulation System:
In another context, the Libyan Center for Engineering and Information Technology Research published a research paper prepared by Dr. Mukhtar Shouran, entitled “Enriched by FOPD Controller Optimized via PSO and Sand Cat Swarm Optimization Algorithms New Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) System Based on a Fuzzy Controller Connected to a Traditional Controller (PIDF) and Supported by a Controller of Type (FOPD) and Optimized Using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Sand Cat Swarm Optimization (SCSO) Algorithms.”
The paper was published in the journal “Energies” published by MDPI, which is considered one of the leading journals in the field of energy.
