A delegation from the British Embassy to Libya visited Misrata, holding a series of meetings with local stakeholders to discuss issues of security and stability and enhance bilateral cooperation between the UK and Libya.
The delegation included the embassy’s military attaché, the counter-terrorism officer, the political-military secretary, and the assistant military attaché.
During the visit, the delegation met with Major General Ahmed Hashem, commander of the 53rd Infantry Brigade, to discuss challenges facing stability in Misrata and ways to strengthen security cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation also visited the Halo Trust organization, receiving a detailed briefing on the organization’s efforts in mine clearance in Libya, praising its vital role in this field.
As part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, the delegation attended an Iftar banquet hosted by the Counter-Terrorism Force, led by Major General Mohamed Al-Zein. Discussions focused on ways to support Libya’s security and long-term stability. The delegation also met with a group of women who served on the frontlines with counter-terrorism forces, expressing appreciation for their remarkable contributions. The visit concluded with a tour in the ancient city of Leptis Magna, one of Libya’s most prominent archaeological sites, where the delegation expressed admiration for the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
