Emad Al-Sayeh, Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, received Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, and his accompanying delegation at the Commission’s headquarters in Tripoli, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Commission and Iraqi institutions concerned with electoral affairs.
During the meeting, mechanisms for exchanging expertise in the election field management and developing the capabilities of specialized personnel were discussed, in addition to the importance of exchanging visits and experiences between the two countries in the field of election organization and enhancing citizen participation in the democratic process.
The Iraqi ambassador praised the role played by the Commission in consolidating democracy in Libya, emphasizing his country’s keenness to enhance cooperation in the areas of training and technical support to contribute to the success of upcoming electoral events in both countries.
For his part, Al-Sayeh stressed the importance of building international partnerships that contribute to the development of the electoral process, emphasizing the Commission’s keenness to benefit from international experiences to enhance the principles of integrity and transparency in elections.
