Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company has announced the completion of drilling operations for the first horizontal development well in the Matkhandoush field, as part of its strategic plan to increase production and evaluate oil reserves for 2025.
This achievement marks a significant step toward enhancing the company’s production capacity and achieving its long-term strategic goals.
The project was executed based on an advanced geomechanical study focusing on the “Mamuniyat” reservoir within the field’s geological structure. The study analyzed reservoir rocks and identified areas rich in open natural fractures, enabling the design of a well path that extends 700 feet into high-permeability zones to ensure optimal crude oil flow.
Initial tests of the well showed promising results, with a production rate of 5,400 barrels per day using an electric submersible pump.
By adding these volumes to current production, the Matkhandoush field’s output is expected to rise to 10,000 barrels per day, bolstering the company’s contribution to its production targets. This accomplishment was achieved with direct support from the National Oil Corporation (NOC), which provided all necessary facilities to ensure the project’s success, in line with its strategy to develop oil fields and increase production rates.
