A number of the Israeli occupation soldiers on the border with Egypt were attacked by a lynx, injuring them, in an unprecedented incident that sparked fear among the soldiers.
The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” reported that a predatory wild animal, a lynx, attacked several soldiers stationed on the border between Egypt and the Occupied Territories of Palestine. It noted that several reports had been received about soldiers being bitten by a predatory animal.
Park rangers in the Occupied Territories of Palestine were able to capture the animal and transfer it to a specialized hospital for the necessary examinations, without disclosing further details so far.
The Israeli Occupation’s media outlets claimed, without providing any evidence, that the predatory lynx came from the Egyptian side. However, the desert border regions are home to many wild animals, both predatory and non-predatory.
It is worth mentioning that a lynx ranges in length from 60 to 90 cm, weighs between 8 and 20 kilograms, and reaches a height of approximately half a meter at the shoulders. It is characterized by its long fangs and sharp claws, and its average lifespan in the wild is from 12 to 15 years, which can extend to 20 years in zoos.
The lynx can run at speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour, and it feeds mainly on rodents, wild rabbits, and birds. It also attacks larger animals such as deer, monkeys, sheep, and goats, and relies heavily on mammals in its diet. The lynx also has a high ability to climb and jump.
