Under the directives of the General Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and with the close follow-up of the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government, Dr. Osama Hamad, Libya has taken the initiative to secure all necessary arrangements for the transfer of the remains of six Tunisian engineers who passed away in a regrettable traffic accident, in addition to two Libyan citizens.

The Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, under the direct supervision of His Excellency Minister Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hawaij, and in full coordination with the Tunisian Consulate, has completed the essential procedures to facilitate the return of the remains to their homeland. The transfer of the bodies is scheduled to take place on a special aircraft provided by the Libyan government, this evening, Sunday, March 23, 2025.

This endeavor reflects Libya’s keenness to stand by Tunisia in this tragedy and ensure a dignified return for the remains of its sons. The Consul General of Tunisia in Benghazi, the director and members of the Protocol Office at the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several Libyan officials will attend the transfer ceremony.
Furthermore, the Libyan government is paying special attention to providing the necessary medical care to one of the Tunisian engineers who survived the accident and is currently receiving treatment in a Libyan hospital.
In this difficult time, the Libyan government extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the government of Tunisia, and the families of the victims.
