The decision by US President Donald Trump’s administration to impose a travel ban that included several countries, among them Libya, has sparked widespread anger among Libyan students residing in the United States, according to a report published by the British website “Middle East Eye.”
The report revealed the cancellation of Libyan student visas, with US authorities beginning to inform them of this decision before the ban officially came into effect. Some were also asked to travel to the US Embassy in Tunisia for new interviews, due to the absence of a US embassy in Libya.
The website indicated that Libyan students currently residing in the United States face the risk of their residencies being retroactively canceled, placing them in a complex legal situation that could force them to leave the country.
