The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday the release of 538 prisoners from correctional and rehabilitation institutions, following their fulfillment of the condition to pay the financial fines imposed on them.
This measure was implemented in accordance with Decree No. 18 of 2025, issued by the Supreme Judicial Council, which stipulates a pardon for the remaining term of imprisonment for a number of prisoners.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that the process of reviewing prisoners’ files took precise time to ensure compliance with all legal conditions, where verification of each prisoner’s payment of the financial fine imposed on them was conducted. The Public Prosecutor’s Office directly supervised this process to ensure its integrity and transparency.
This release comes within the framework of the state’s judicial reform policy, which aims to grant a second chance to those who abide by the law, while maintaining public interest and community rights.
The judicial authorities were keen to document all procedures related to this process following established legal principles.
