The Minister of Social Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Wafa Al-Kilani, participated in the opening ceremony of the 2025 Global Disability Summit, the activities of which commenced in the German capital, Berlin, with the attendance of a group of prominent international leaders and officials.
This summit is being held through the joint organization of the governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in close cooperation with the International Disability Alliance. It aims to accelerate the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to strengthen international efforts to achieve comprehensive sustainable development goals.
The summit is on April 2nd and 3rd, and includes a series of discussion sessions and interactive workshops aimed at strengthening effective international partnerships and providing a more equitable and inclusive global environment for persons with disabilities.
The opening session witnessed a high-level attendance, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, and World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in addition to high-ranking ministers and officials from various international organizations and representatives of civil society organizations concerned with the rights of persons with disabilities.
