The Tunisian national under-17 team secured its place in the upcoming World Cup, scheduled to be held in Qatar next November, following a valuable 2-1 victory over the Gambian national team. This win occurred on Monday during the third round of Group C matches in the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Eagles of Carthage” took the lead first through the player Yassine Ben Mahmoud three minutes before the end of the first half. However, the Gambian national team quickly equalized at the beginning of the second half via the player Mendy in the 46th minute.
The Tunisian response was swift, with Anis Saidi successfully scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 57th minute, thus sealing Tunisia’s qualification for the quarter-finals, despite being numerically disadvantaged after the dismissal of the player Elias Dhaoui in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
