Pauline Ferrand-Prévot makes history as the first Frenchwoman to win the Tour de France Femmes

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has become the first Frenchwoman to win the modern Tour de France Femmes, sealing her triumph with a dramatic solo victory in the final stage through the Alpine climbs of Haute-Savoie.

The 33-year-old Olympic champion crossed the finish line in Châtel, overcome with emotion, after launching a decisive attack in the last seven kilometres of the 124.1km stage from Praz-sur-Arly. Her win marks the end of a decades-long wait for a home champion, with France last celebrating a female Tour winner in 1989.

Ferrand-Prévot finished three minutes and 42 seconds ahead of 2023 champion Demi Vollering, who settled for second place for the second consecutive year. Defending titleholder Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney rounded out the podium, trailing by over four minutes.
