The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Science (LCRSSS) reported the occurrence of an earthquake on Monday morning in the central Mediterranean Sea, approximately 340 kilometers off the coast of Tripoli.
According to data from global monitoring stations, the quake struck at 11:55 a.m. local Libyan time, registering a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the seabed.
The center’s statement did not indicate whether residents of Tripoli felt the tremor.
