In implementation of the instructions issued by the Head of the Government of National Unity concerning the return of international institutions and companies to Libya, a field visit was conducted to the building designated as the World Bank headquarters in Tripoli.
Participants in the visit included Mustafa Al-Manea, Head of the Executive Team for Presidential Initiatives and Strategic Projects, and Yasin Al-Abyad, Director General of the Social and Economic Development Fund. The World Bank was represented by its Resident Representative, Henriette von Kaltenborn, and her security team.
The delegation reviewed the ongoing preparations for participation in the World Bank’s annual meetings and discussed the practical steps required to officially resume its operations from the Libyan capital. These preparations involved fully equipping the building in accordance with approved international standards, to ensure the headquarters opens soon to support economic and social reform and development efforts in Libya.
