The Bashir Al-Saadawi Hall in the municipality of Al-Khums witnessed the launch of the “Legacy of the Ancestors” exhibition, dedicated to traditional crafts and handicrafts. The event is organised by the Ministry of Tourism and runs for three consecutive days, scheduled to coincide with the celebration of World Tourism Day. This year’s exhibition adopted the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” and aims to fulfil key objectives: reviving the national craft heritage, providing essential support to Libyan artisans, and strengthening the presence of traditional products in both domestic and global markets. The exhibition serves as a vital platform, underscoring traditional industries as a crucial economic resource and a distinguished reflection of the country’s authentic cultural identity. The event attracted broad participation from artisans who travelled from various regions across Libya. These exhibitors are presenting visitors with a collection of their creative works that narrate stories of ancient Libyan heritage, ranging from pottery and ceramics to leather goods and palm and frond creations, thereby embodying the significant diversity and richness of Libyan craft heritage.
