The Tunisian Customs Directorate reported that it successfully seized a quantity of pure gold at the Ras Jedir border crossing. The confiscated amount consisted of a single bar weighing three kilograms, of 24-carat purity, with a financial value estimated at approximately one million Tunisian dinars.
The seizure occurred after two individuals were stopped while attempting to cross the border from Tunisia towards Libyan territory with the gold in their possession.
Following the arrest, Customs immediately referred the complete file to the Tunisian Public Prosecution. The prosecution is currently responsible for finalising the necessary investigations and taking the required legal measures concerning the incident.
