The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has released its latest report on the situation of migrants within Libya, covering the period from May to July 2025, under the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) program. The report indicates that approximately 894,890 migrants, belonging to 45 nationalities, are currently spread across 100 municipalities throughout Libyan territory.
The demographic breakdown of this population reveals that adult men constitute the overwhelming majority, accounting for 78% of the total count. Women make up 11 % of the group, accompanied children account for 7 %, while unaccompanied minors are limited to a 4 % share. Regarding origin, Sudanese nationals top the list at 35 %, followed by migrants from Niger at 21%, Egypt at 19%, Chad at 9%, and Nigeria at 3%.
Separately, a contingent of 216 migrants successfully reached the Italian island of Lampedusa. Their boats had departed from Libyan territory before their arrival on the island, where all arrivals, representing six different nationalities, were transferred to the overcrowded Imbriacola reception centre.
