The Kenyan capital, Nairobi, today, Wednesday, hosted the 20th Ministerial Meeting for Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), which saw the presence of a high-level Libyan delegation. This participation is part of the ongoing arrangements leading up to the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled to take place in Kenya on 9 October 2025.
Libya was represented at the forum by Dr Mohamed Saeed Zeidan, the Undersecretary for Migration and Expatriates Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He was accompanied on his mission by Ashraf Mohamed Al-Taieb, the Director of International Cooperation.
The meeting’s primary agenda included in-depth discussions on several core issues, among them the experts’ committee report concerning regional peace and security files. The ministers also explored mechanisms for strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation among COMESA nations, in addition to examining ways to develop and coordinate joint relations between the bloc and other regional entities, most notably the African Union.
