Mahmoud Rajab secures Libya’s first-ever World Para Athletics gold

Libyan para-athletics has achieved an unprecedented feat, etching the nation’s name into the annals of history in golden letters. Champion Mahmoud Rajab successfully claimed the gold medal in the discus throw competition (F57 category) with a registered distance of 46.73 meters. This victory marks the country’s first global gold medal ever secured at the World Para Athletics Championships.
This significant accomplishment was recorded during the 12th edition of the World Para Athletics Championships (New Delhi 2025), which is being hosted by India for the first time in its history at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The event, which commenced on 27 September and runs until 5 October, features more than 2,200 athletes representing 104 nations competing for 186 medals.
