As part of the Ministry of Transport’s ongoing efforts to expand international cooperation in air transport and establish new routes to bolster economic and tourism accessibility, Transport Minister Mohamed Al-Shahoubi held a meeting today, Tuesday, at Mitiga International Airport. Al-Shahoubi discussed with Ahmed Taher, the envoy of the UAE Civil Aviation Authority, the arrangements for resuming air services between Libya and the United Arab Emirates.
Discussions between the two sides focused on all technical and security aspects necessary to ensure the smooth, regular return of flights operated by both Emirates Airlines and Flydubai. These routes are set to connect Dubai International Airport with the Libyan airports in Mitiga, Misrata, and Benghazi.
To verify the readiness of the Libyan airports and finalise a date for the resumption of air traffic, it was agreed that a technical delegation from the two UAE airlines would soon undertake an anticipated visit to Libya.
