The Syrian General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport has announced the resumption of scheduled flights between Damascus and Tripoli, effective October 16. The service will be operated by Syrian Airlines, providing one return flight per week.
Omar Al-Husari, the Head of the Authority, confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the restoration of air travel have been finalised. Al-Husari stressed that ensuring the mechanism for exempting Syrian nationals from fees and taxes in Libya was a paramount concern during the preparatory phase. He noted the Authority’s diligence in securing the official implementation of the tax waiver before the flight schedules were announced, crediting collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for effectively activating and guaranteeing the application of the decision.
Al-Husari concluded by affirming the Authority’s dedication to delivering services that enable Syrians to maintain mobility and continuous connection with their homeland. He expressed hope that these new flights would help deepen relations between the Syrian and Libyan peoples and facilitate the movement of both individuals and goods between the two nations.
