Powerlifting Team’s South African World Cup Performance: 19 Medals Secured

The Libyan national powerlifting team participated in the World Championship hosted by South Africa with a delegation comprising 14 athletes. The team competed under the technical supervision of national coach Tariq Makhlouf, amidst broad participation from various global national teams.
In the final stages of their run, the Libyan contingent achieved a prominent feat by claiming a total of 19 coloured medals. This overall haul was distributed as 4 gold medals, alongside 4 silver and 11 bronze awards.
The gold medals were the result of outstanding individual performances. Champion Abdullah Al-Maghribi succeeded in securing three gold medals in the competitions for the 105kg weight class. The fourth gold was added thanks to Khalid Al-Khuraif’s achievement in the weight category exceeding 120kg.
