The Butnan branch of the Agency for Combating Illegal Migration has announced the successful repatriation of 165 migrants of various nationalities. This action forms part of the branch’s intensive security efforts aimed at regulating the status of undocumented migrants and curbing the activities of smuggling networks operating in border areas.

The repatriation process, overseen directly by the Branch Head, Major General Ibrahim Larbad, was executed in three distinct phases utilising several field units and centres. The first group was processed through the Musaid border crossing office and its dedicated repatriation unit. The second group was transferred via the Tobruk Shelter and Repatriation Centre. Meanwhile, the third and final group was moved directly through the Musaid land crossing.

The agency confirmed that the deported migrants hold citizenship from Egypt, Sudan, Guinea, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Nigeria, and Yemen. It indicated that they were initially transferred to the Ganfoudah Shelter and Repatriation Centre in Benghazi. This measure was taken to finalise necessary procedures and arrangements before their return to their countries of origin, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
