General Mohamed Al-Haddad, Chief of Staff for the Western Region, met with France’s new envoy to Libya, Thierry Valet, on Monday in his office to examine mechanisms for advancing bilateral cooperation, particularly concerning the provision of military aid across various sectors. The French Defence Attaché also attended the session.
Ambassador Valet affirmed Paris’s commitment to backing the Chief of Staff’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and unify the military institution, noting that France remains dedicated to fostering stability in Libya by supporting relevant international conferences and meetings.
General Al-Haddad, in turn, welcomed the new ambassador while extending profound gratitude for the tangible efforts of his predecessor, which substantially bolstered the bilateral relationship between Libya and France. He further emphasised the critical need for the continuation of military collaboration between the two nations.
