Public Prosecution Office and IOM Discuss Anti-Trafficking Cooperation and Data Exchange

The Public Prosecution Office in Libya held a meeting with representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the country to discuss bolstering the bilateral partnership. The IOM described the session as “fruitful,” focusing on strengthening cooperation in the field of human trafficking combat, victim protection, and the exchange of necessary data. Discussions also addressed ways to coordinate operational frameworks and develop targeted capacities aimed at countering this crime.

Migration Updates and Maritime Interceptions:

In a related context, the IOM published its weekly report covering the period from 26 October to 1 November 2025. The report highlighted the ongoing process of intercepting migrants in the Mediterranean Sea and their forced return to the Libyan shores. Statistics indicate that a total of 436 migrants were intercepted and rescued across various coastal areas during the specified week.

Statistical Data for 2025:

According to the IOM’s figures, the cumulative number of migrants intercepted and returned to Libya since the start of 2025 up to 1 November stands at approximately 22,945 migrants. This total comprises 19,883 men, 2,008 women, and 846 children, while data on 208 other migrants remained unavailable.
