The Government of National Unity (GNU) has revealed that approximately 35 Libyan nationals detained in several foreign countries were released during the current year. This development is part of ongoing efforts to guarantee the rights of detained Libyan citizens overseas and secure their return to the homeland.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation clarified that its specialised teams are maintaining coordination with relevant authorities in numerous nations. The aim is to settle the status of these Libyan inmates and facilitate the transfer of the remaining individuals so they may complete their sentences inside Libya, a process anchored by bilateral agreements established between the Libyan state and those countries.
The Foreign Ministry further emphasised that its diplomatic efforts persist in providing legal and humanitarian support to Libyan nationals held outside the country, affirming a complete commitment to tracking their cases until their return home and the completion of all necessary legal procedures under established frameworks.
