Rally TT concluded its eleventh edition in Waddan, transforming into what the Head of its Organising Committee, Hassan Qanda, described as a “major national festival.” The event successfully drew a colossal public attendance, surpassing a quarter of a million Libyan citizens who gathered to participate in the joyous and adventurous atmosphere that embodied the spirit of competition and Libyan unity.
Speaking to Almanassa, Qanda detailed the logistical and competitive aspects of the rally. He noted that the final stage presented an extreme test, covering 175 kilometres across rugged desert terrain. The severity of these challenges caused a significant drop in competitor numbers: only 13 cars remained for the final stage out of the initial 50, while the number of quad bikes was reduced to just four.
The Organising Committee Head also stressed their unwavering commitment to participant safety, confirming the implementation of comprehensive security measures and health provisions along the entire route. These arrangements included setting up a fully-equipped field hospital, staffed by doctors specialising in emergency medicine, surgery, and orthopaedics, in addition to establishing a reserve blood bank, all supported by readily available ambulances to manage any critical situations.
Qanda stated that the substantial success of the rally was not solely confined to its sporting element but lay in its function as a unifying event that brought Libyans together in an enthusiastic setting.
