A notable new feature was introduced to the TT Rally’s eleventh edition in Waddan: the refined sound of hooves competing with the usual roar of engines. In a pioneering move for the Jufra area, Akarem Stables successfully organized a showjumping competition as part of the rally’s activities. This simple yet significant event marked a tangible expansion of Libyan equestrianism into desert regions where such sports were previously uncommon. The show included talented young riders, many of whom have already claimed victories in both domestic and international competitions.
Akarem Stables is determined to integrate equestrian sports fully into the desert’s athletic landscape. This initial event is viewed as a crucial step towards establishing an international competition for the rally’s twelfth edition. General Supervisor Atef Al-Bouaishi expressed this ambition, stating, “We plan to host an international match during the next rally. The substantial public interest and wide media coverage create an exceptional opportunity to advance the sport of showjumping.”
Al-Bouaishi also acknowledged the valuable contributions of key individuals, noting that the initiative is geared towards the future development of the sport. He specifically thanked Haitham Al-Bouaishi for the immense effort invested in establishing and overseeing Akarem Stables, affirming that this work benefits Libyan horsemanship and the nation as a whole. Additionally, he extended congratulations and gratitude to the rider Basem Mohammed Al-Bouaishi, Honorary President of the Libyan Equestrian Federation, on his well-deserved appointment as Vice-President of the African Shooting Federation.
The display, which featured performances by Abu Aisha’s riders alongside paragliding above the field, created a memorable, harmonious spectacle.
