A combined military force has been established between the Libyan Armed Forces’ General Command and the Chadian Army. The primary mandate of this joint unit is to secure the extensive shared border against illegal activities, specifically targeting armed gangs, bandits, and smuggling operations.
Following a directive issued by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Staff Pilot Saddam Haftar, the operational implementation tasks within this newly formed force have been assigned to specific Libyan units. Field duties were designated to the Ground Forces’ Chief of Staff, represented by the Border Guard Administration and the desert patrols affiliated with the Sabil Al-Salam Battalion. This initiative is intended to ensure the stability and security of the border regions while strengthening the existing military coordination and partnership between Libya and Chad.
