In a move aimed at bolstering joint Maghreb economic cooperation, a delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Trade of Libya’s Government of National Unity visited the headquarters of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) General Secretariat. The delegation was received by the AMU Secretary-General, Taher Ben Salem, last Friday.
The core discussions during the visit focused on how to activate the Union’s mechanisms in a way that reflects the firm political will of the member states, aligns with the current needs of the Maghreb region, and enhancing economic integration among the Maghreb countries.
The AMU Secretary-General praised the fraternal and historical relations connecting Libya with the other member nations. Concurrently, he emphasised the vital role Libya plays, as the current chairing state of the Union, in accelerating the pace of integration among all member states.
For her part, the head of the Libyan delegation, Shathar Al-Zintani, expressed her gratitude to the AMU General Secretariat, reaffirming Libya’s commitment to strengthening joint Maghreb efforts. She stressed the critical importance of continued mutual coordination to support Libya’s pivotal role in achieving the desired Maghreb integration.
