At the Khalifa Haftar Military City, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the General Commander of the Armed Forces, hosted a delegation of sheikhs, dignitaries, and elders representing the tribes of the western coastal regions.
with the attendance of Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad, Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, Chief of the General Staff, and Lieutenant General Ayoub Bousif, Director of the General Commander’s office.
The General Commander welcomed the Western Coastal delegation, expressing his profound appreciation for their patriotic stance. He highlighted the unifying national spirit demonstrated by Libyans from various regions, specifically recalling the solidarity shown to the people of Derna during the Daniel catastrophe, an event he noted as a source of pride for all Libyans.
During his address, Haftar acknowledged the profound depth of the state’s crisis, which he attributed to sustained political conflict, governmental failure, and the proliferation of corruption and weaponry outside legitimate state institutions. He emphasised that correcting the state’s course can only be achieved through “a free popular decision that puts an end to paths of folly and recklessness,” affirming that the Libyan people are the true stakeholders in change, and they must determine the solution and restore proper order to the nation.
For their part, the Western Coastal tribal delegation affirmed their full support for the General Command and stated their readiness to take an active and pivotal role in safeguarding the cohesiveness of the social fabric and countering any threat to the country’s stability and unity. They also expressed their appreciation for the General Command’s efforts towards establishing security and stability and advancing the vital work of national construction, development, and protection.
