Libyan Foreign Ministry Welcomes Bangladesh’s Plan to Open Consulate in Benghazi

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan government has expressed its welcome for Bangladesh’s stated intention to open a consulate in Benghazi. The Ministry considers this move evidence of the strong and deep relationship between Libya and Bangladesh, signalling new horizons for enhanced bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The Libyan Ministry oversaw the organisation of a meeting that brought together the Bangladeshi Ambassador, Major General Abul Hasnat Muhammad Khairul Bashar, and his accompanying delegation, with representatives of the Bangladeshi community residing in Libya. The session was attended by Libyan officials, including the Director of the Consular Affairs Department, Mansour Bu Jannat, the Director of the Public Protocol Department, Bassim Al-Swayi, and the Head of the Communities Section at the Ministry.

The gathering was dedicated to hearing the concerns and status of the Bangladeshi community and providing essential consular services to them. Discussions also focused on ways to improve the social welfare offered to the community and facilitate various administrative procedures they require.
