Hanna Tetteh, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, has welcomed the signing of a funding agreement with the Qatari government. This joint financing aims to support the ” UN proposed roadmap.”
The agreement was formally signed by Qatar’s Ambassador to Libya, Khalid Al-Dosari, and the Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Sophie Khimkhadze.
This financial support is intended to back up the UN’s efforts to implement the roadmap facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), which Special Representative Tetteh presented to the Security Council on August 21, 2025.
The project is anticipated to contribute to broadening civic participation in support of a political process that is nationally led and locally owned by Libyan parties. This, in turn, is expected to reinforce national dialogue and strengthen the democratic foundations for community involvement in decision-making.
