Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the General Commander of the Armed Forces, hosted a German delegation at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi, which included Christian Back, the Federal Republic of Germany’s Special Envoy to Libya, and the German Ambassador, Ralf Trapp. Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy General Commander, and Lieutenant General Ayub Bouseif, Director of the General Commander’s Office, were also present at the meeting.
The discussions focused on mechanisms to strengthen cooperation and expand the partnership between Libya and Germany. They also reviewed the latest developments concerning the current political landscape and the ongoing Libyan crisis.
During the talks, the General Commander expressed his appreciation for Germany’s contribution to supporting the political process in Libya. The German delegation, in turn, underscored the pivotal role of Marshal Haftar in the trajectory of the political solution, as well as in cementing security and stability across the country. The delegation further commended the urban development and revival witnessed in numerous Libyan cities and regions.
