The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, held a high-level meeting in the Turkish capital, Ankara, as part of an official visit to Turkey. Haftar met with the Turkish Chief of the General Staff, General Selçuk Bayraktaroglu, to strengthen bilateral defence relations.
Discussions between the two sides focused on exploring ways to expand the military cooperation between the Libyan and Turkish military establishments. They also addressed the development of necessary mechanisms to elevate this collaboration to meet current challenges and requirements. This coordination seeks to support ongoing efforts to establish security and stability in Libya, in addition to aligning positions and efforts on several files of mutual interest.
This meeting is part of a series of engagements being conducted by Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar during his current visit, which is broadly aimed at building and expanding areas of cooperation and the exchange of military expertise between Libya and Turkey.
