The Coordination of Blocs within the High State Council has issued a warning against the proposed creation of a new entity, dubbed the “Higher Authority for Presidencies.” The Coordination affirmed that this body has no constitutional foundation and doesn’t have a legal mandate within the legitimate power structures established by the Constitutional Declaration and the Political Agreement.
In a statement, the Coordination body emphasised that the formation of parallel bodies outside the agreed constitutional framework represents an extremely dangerous development. It warned that such actions threaten to deepen the existing political division and obstruct the announced efforts and trajectory of the UN mission.
Furthermore, the Coordination views this measure as a clear violation of the principle of separation of powers. It argues that the establishment of this Authority encroaches upon the legislative and supervisory prerogatives vested in the High State Council.
The Coordination body ultimately called upon the UN mission and the international community to refrain from recognising this newly proposed entity. It cautioned against granting the body any official cover that could contribute to cementing chaos and undermining the political process. The statement concluded by asserting that adherence to legitimate institutions and the outcomes of the Political Agreement remains the sole path to securing stability and preventing further fragmentation.
