The Green Mountain branch of the Tourism Police and Antiquities Protection agency successfully apprehended two individuals implicated in the illicit trafficking of historical artefacts. This security operation resulted in the recovery of a marble statue, an incident that heightens existing concerns over the proliferation of illicit trade in cultural heritage items.

The case originated when authorities detected a social media posting where one of the suspects was offering the artefact for sale. Security forces immediately set an ambush within the city limits of Shahat. The operation concluded with the arrest of the two suspects and the confiscation of the statue found in their possession.
The security agency confirmed that preliminary legal procedures and interrogations were completed immediately following the arrests. The full case file has since been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office to take charge of the ongoing investigation, fully ascertain the circumstances of the incident, and determine the appropriate legal measures and penalties.
