The technical team from the National Oil Corporation (NOC) held a meeting on Monday to discuss future exploration plans and operations with the consortium comprising Eni, British Petroleum (BP), and the Libyan Investment Authority. The core focus of the discussion was the planned exploration activities for 2025 and 2026 across both onshore and offshore fields within the Ghadames and Sirte basins.
During the talks, the consortium’s role in drilling a single exploratory well in the Ghadames basin during the current year was reviewed. Furthermore, a plan was agreed upon to drill two additional exploratory wells in 2026; one is designated for the Ghadames basin, while the second will be located in the offshore (submerged) area of the Sirte basin.
This meeting follows the NOC’s announcement earlier this year of 22 new exploration blocks, which include 11 onshore areas. The public tender bids for these blocks are scheduled to be opened in February of next year.
