The Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation, part of the Government of National Unity, signed a cooperation agreement with Toyota’s facility located in the Misrata Free Zone on Thursday. The partnership aims to train and qualify job seekers in specialised technical fields, including the automotive sector, logistics management, and public relations skills.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Rehabilitation Affairs, Abdul-Nasser Al-Ageeli, alongside his technical team, and representatives from Toyota. The agreement encompasses the launch of dedicated training programmes focusing on vehicle maintenance according to the company’s global standards, warehouse management, and enhancing trainees’ communication and public relations capabilities.
Al-Ageeli confirmed, via a ministry statement on Facebook, that this partnership aligns with the Ministry’s strategy to strengthen collaboration with the private sector. He noted that the primary objective is to equip Libyan youth with modern technical skills that are compatible with both local and international market needs, thereby providing effective, practical training opportunities and facilitating their entry into the job market.
The statement also underscored the particular importance of the agreement in terms of women’s empowerment. It specifically outlines the provision of remote training programmes that allow women to acquire essential vocational skills without requiring physical attendance. This initiative is expected to expand their economic opportunities and boost their participation within the Libyan workforce.
