Al-Saadawi commenced his run in the championship with a significant victory over the Croatian champion, prevailing with a score of (1–0) in a match marked by high tactical discipline and concentration. The Libyan fighter subsequently reinforced his advantage with a deserved second win against his Greek opponent, triumphing (2–1).
