Libya and the United States have held talks aimed at deepening their military partnership. The Libyan Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Haddad, received the Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Dagvin Anderson, along with the US Chargé d’Affaires, Jeremy Brent.
The meeting with the Libyan Chief of the General Staff focused on exploring opportunities to expand military cooperation between the two nations and supporting initiatives to enhance the proficiency and professionalism of the Libyan security forces. In this context, discussions addressed the potential participation of Libyan forces in the upcoming “Flintlock 26” exercise, which is scheduled to be organised by AFRICOM.
The US Embassy in Libya, via a statement on its official ‘X’ account, reaffirmed Washington’s unwavering support for Libyan-led efforts to overcome existing divisions and unify the country’s security and military institutions.
